Dr. Leslie Meade

President

Dr. Leslie Meade is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.  He presently conducts his private practice in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Winchester Surgical and Medical Institute and is also a Medical Officer at the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTECH) and was the Vice Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Integrated Health Science Course. 

He holds the Doctor of Medicine (DM) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, a Master of Public Health-Health Management and the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree with honours in Biochemistry from the UWI, Mona. Dr. Meade is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

He previously served the Jamaica Medical Doctors’ Association (JMDA) both as Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer and was part of JMDA’s Collective Bargaining Negotiating Team. Whilst in Medical School Dr Meade was elected Deputy Hall Chairman of Irvine Hall and also sat on the Guild Council. During his residency he was elected Junior Fellow Vice Chair and Chair of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, West Indies Section. During 2008-2009 he was appointed the Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UHWI.  He is also an Examiner in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the Caribbean Association of Medical Council Examinations (CAMC) since 2012 and was also the Clinical Coordinator (O&G) of the said exams between 2014-2018.

Since 2018 Dr. Meade has been the Honorary Secretary of the Medical Association of Jamaica. He also chairs its Public Health Services Committee. He presently sits on the National Committee on Non-Communicable Diseases and Chairs the Sub-committee on Screening and Integrated Disease Management. Dr Meade now serves as President of The Medical association of Jamaica. He is also a trustee of the Medical Association of Jamaica Insurance Fund (MAJIF).

In addition, he serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in Anatomy at the Caribbean School of Medical Sciences Jamaica (CSMSJ).  His research interest includes Adolescent Gynaecology, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Health Management 

Dr. Leslie Meade is married and has three (3) sons and in his leisure time enjoys playing and watching cricket. 

Professor Marvin Reid

President-Elect

Prof Reid is an experienced physician and serves on the Family Medicine Specialty Board that oversees the Family Medicine training programme at the University of the West Indies. In addition to his private Family Physician practice, he is the Deputy Dean, Research, Faculty of Medical Sciences and former director Tropical Metabolism Research and Sickle Cell Units.  Prof Reid is a distinguished researcher with over 150 published articles in medical journals and is the recipient of numerous awards both locally and internationally for his medical research.  Additionally, he is Chairman of Caribbean College of Family Physicians Regional, a Past President of the North American Chapter of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) as well as past chair of WONCA’s Membership Committee, and member of American Physiological Society, the American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition and a past President of the Rotary Club of New Kingston

Dr. Mike Mills

Dr. Mike Mills is a graduate of the Doctor of Medicine, Internal Medicine, programme at The University of the West Indies, Mona. He completed his subspecialty training in Gastroenterology in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is an Associate lecturer in the Department of Medicine, University of the West Indies and in private practice.

He is a member of the Association of West Indian Gastroenterologists, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edin).

He is the Vice President of the Medical Association of Jamaica, Governor of the West Indies Chapter of the American College of Gastroenterology and a past President of the Association of Consultant Physicians of Jamaica.

He has published in peer reviewed journals and presented at numerous seminars on various topics in gastroenterology.

He has participated in numerous public awareness events and media activities covering digestive diseases often with an emphasis on colon cancer screening and liver related diseases.

Dr. Pollyanna Howell Chang

Dr Howell Chang is a graduate of UHWI where she pursued her medical undergraduate and postgraduate studies. She completed her Masters from Cardiff University (Wales).

Dr Chang has worked at KPH for the past 11 years and is presently Consultant with responsibility for Pain Management Unit (Pain Clinic) and associate lecturer in the department of Health Sciences UTECH (MSc in Nurse Anaesthesia)

She is a member of the Anaesthetists of Jamaica and the Jamaica Pain Collaborative.

Dr. Kristen Little

Dr. Kristen Little is the youngest member on our executive team. She graduated from the University of the West Indies in 2019 and is currently a medical officer in the Department of Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.

Dr. Colin Abel

Dr. Colin Abel is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at the Bustamante Hospital for Children and an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Surgery, University of the West Indies, Mona.

Dr. Abel was inducted as Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeon, Edinburgh (FRCS), Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS), Fellow of American College of Surgeons (FACS), and Fellow of the Caribbean College of Surgeons (FCCS). He is a member of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons, the European Society of Paediatric Urologists and the American Academy of Paediatrics.

Dr. Giselle Harrison Rowe

A graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona with a DM in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Harrison Rowe works at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) and Nuttall Medical Centre. She has served on the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association (JMDA) executive as Interns’ Representative, Honorary Secretary, Public Relations Officer and Conference Manager. She has also served in the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as Junior Fellow Chair and Vice-Chair of the West Indies chapter. She is now a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology serving as Young Physicians’ Representative for the West Indies.

Carolyn Jackson

Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at Kiddie Care Pediatricians and the founding director of Caribbean Tots to Teens, a child and adolescent wellness centre. She is a proud graduate of the University of the West Indies DM Surgery program. Dr. Jackson has served on the executive committees of the Junior Doctors Association (JDA), the Pediatric Association of Jamaica (PAJ) and the Association of Surgeons in Jamaica (ASJ). She has also worked with Violence Prevention Alliance, CISOCA, the CDA / CPFSA and other regional bodies in advancing the rights and protection of Caribbean children.

Dr. Carrington is an experienced General Practitioner with broad scientific interests in medicine and other fields. He is a scientist first and a doctor second.



Dr. Brian James

Consultant Anaesthetist in the Department of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care at the Bustamante Hospital for Children. In 1998, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (London).

Dr. James is a former President of the Association of Anaesthetists in Jamaica as well as the Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA). He is a member of the Paediatric Association of Jamaica, British Medical Association, Association of Anaesthetists in Great Britain and Ireland and the Society for Pediatric Sedation.

Dr. Andrew Manning

Consultant ENT, Head & Neck Surgeon at the Mandeville Regional Hospital, Glenmuir Business Complex and Hargreaves Hospital. Dr. Manning has held several posts within the MAJ and is a former President of the Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA). He has held office in the Caribbean Association of Otorhinolaryngologists. He is currently the Chairman of the MAJ Insurance Fund –MAJIF.
